Colour magic in painting

What is colour? How does the artist perceive it? Colour is , after all, our perception of reality. All beings see with their own sensitivities. Some  see a different spectrum and others can  see in the dark.

The presence or absence of sunlight, the difference of natural light in different parts of the world always amazes me. How the greens blues, yellows and reds  change, in different times and different places!

So colour is all there, much as the bare facts of life. Take your pick by your perception. To be able to see it is a gift. To be able to mimic it in your created painting is your skill.

But to be able to make someone else see what you are looking at. That is the magic of painting.
